Here at Bird Ready(TM), we grow hundreds of thousands of live mealworms each year. We are providing you with the exact same method that we use (just on a much smaller scale). The method is called the 1, 2, 3, 4 system.
Unlike other live mealworm kits for sale over the internet, we have supercharged our kit. Mealworms go through a 4-part metamorphosis process. This process is stage 1, the egg, stage 2, the larvae (which is the mealworm you are looking for), stage 3, pupae, and stage 4, the adult darkling beetle. In our starter kit we have included three of those stages for you. You should be seeing new baby mealworms within 30 days.
The Kit Contains:
- Approximately 1,000 Live Mealworms
- Approximately 100 Pupae
- Approximately 100 Live beetles
- Container with 3 drawers
- 4 Lbs. of Wheat Bran
The whole process from eggs to larvae (mealworms) large enough for the backyard wild birds and chickens to eat is about 3 months. Then from larvae to pupae (the container in the middle with the white pupae) is about 3 weeks. Finally, from the pupae to the darkling beetle, which will lay the eggs, is about 2 weeks. The darkling beetle will start laying eggs immediately, and the whole process starts over. Since there is about 3 months for the whole process to begin, we are starting you with three initial steps to get you on your way. In 30 days, you will have small mealworms in your wheat bran.
